I was also disappointed with the brightness of the lamp. If I had paid the retail price, it would be going back to the store. It took me 20 minutes to get into this package and find out where to put the batteries. Luckily, I only paid 9.99 for mine at a discount store.
Finally, the heavy plastic package weighs 100 grams, and has no recycling mark, so it must be thrown away - what wasteful arogance. The light itself is o.k. The unit comes with four AA batteries, and these are locked into two plastic compartments that have to have tabs cut off to get the batteries out. One of the cable ties rests in a groove, defying most attempts to cut it. It is called a "Hard Case" but the real hard case is the packaging. I received this light as a Christmas present last year and finally got around to using it today. The flashlight comes attached by two strong cable ties to a heavy plastic frame. No wonder this is sold as a workman's flashlight, you need a whole suite of tools just to get it open.
